Suzanne Rae, the Brooklyn based designer, has a ready-to-wear line, which is ‘inspired by and made for the progressive, empowered and modern woman. Both feminine and feminist in philosophy, the line explores the multiple juxtapositions of a woman’s natural being and interprets these abstract ideas into tangible garments.’

The Fall/Winter collection for 2013/2014 was inspired by the clothing of monks, priests and nuns. The inspiration from the silhouettes and linear geometry of the holy robes has turned into the minimalistic collection for a confident, relaxed and faithful to the aesthetics gentlewoman. The sacramental philosophy comes up in a form of sophisticated cuts, classy colours and layers of the garments. The palette of whites, greys, browns, blues, blacks and burnt oranges reminds of cold and dark days as well as nights, which become cozier with the tweed coat on the shoulders. The medium length skirts and chinos do not cover still wearable oxfords or loafers while maxi length black and white dress is perfect for showing off the new pumps. Relaxed lines perfect for both, day and night, make me wonder where have I been before I saw this collection.
