Doyle Auctioneers & Appraisers will host a groundbreaking auction—the Collection of Stephen Sondheim, on Tuesday, June 18 at 10 am EDT. Featuring over 200 lots from Mr. Sondheim’s Manhattan townhouse and Roxbury, Connecticut country home, this event offers a unique glimpse into the life of the legendary lyricist and composer.

Renowned for his contributions to American musical theatre, including West Side Story and Sweeney Todd, Mr. Sondheim’s collection includes memorabilia and furnishings that reflect his artistic legacy. From his gold record to his custom-embroidered asylum coat, each item tells a story of creativity and innovation.

Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Sondheim was a collector with a keen eye for Victorian and Edwardian treasures. His collection of puzzles, games, and ephemera reflects his boundless curiosity and eclectic taste.

The public is invited to view the exhibition from June 14 through 17 at Doyle’s New York location. Select highlights will also be showcased at regional galleries throughout May. The auction catalogue will be available starting May 20.
