For Willy Vanderperre fashion photography is not just a beautiful picture. It‘s not just about the pose, it‘s not just about the model, it‘s not even just about the clothes, it‘s always about the emotion. You might think that a beautiful fashion picture is enough, but again, what do you feel when you are looking at it? Is it just a flat „pretty“ or does it have an impact? What does it speak to you? Fashion photographer Willy Vanderperre knows how to make a picture talk.

Willy was born and grew up inBelgium, carrying his love for art and fashion through each day of his childhood.  His one and only aim was to find the way in which he could capture the emotion and pass it on to other people, therefore he tried studying fashion, because of the inspiration from the boom of the famous Belgian designers of that time. Actually a fashion studies was the thing that brought Willy to understanding that the medium of photography was more interesting to him. As Willy says himself, he has gone from studying fashion to photography, because he „was more excited to go about finding images, cutting out images, taking pictures, creating the world around it, than the actual design of fashion itself“.

The making of imagery that is based on capturing the emotion brought Willy Vanderperre to a lot of important jobs that he performed for such brands as Jil Sander, Proenza Schouler, Prada, Givenchy or Dior Homme. Willy has an outstanding ability to speak both his and designer‘s idea through the photograph that always becomes a medium between fashion and its appreciator. The image is not there just to look or appear, it‘s there to communicate.
