UNDERCOVER, founded by designer Jun Takahashi in 1990, is celebrated for its unique fusion of art, music, and subculture influences, crafting collections with a distinct worldview. This latest collaboration merges UNDERCOVER’s desire to create clothing that feels familiar yet unseen with GU’s concept of fashion “FREEDOM,” encouraging everyone to express themselves freely.

Featuring 21 items, including biker jackets and mods fishtail parkas with detachable parts, the collection reimagines basic pieces with a twist. Men’s essentials like the biker jacket and utility pants boast convertible designs with detachable parts, while shirts and knits showcase inside-out details typically hidden from view. The collection also offers gender-neutral items like shoes, bags, and pin badges, ensuring enjoyment across generations.

Highlighting the collaboration are “triple collaboration” items featuring graphics from UNIVERSAL MONSTERS characters, such as Frankenstein and Creature from the Black Lagoon. These graphics, reflecting UNDERCOVER’s dark fantasy aesthetic, add a unique touch to the collection.

Designer Jun Takahashi shared his vision for the collaboration, expressing a desire to bring well-designed clothing to a global audience. He emphasized the alignment between GU’s approach to quality and affordability and his own ethos, incorporating UNDERCOVER-like details throughout the collection. Takahashi hopes the collaboration will introduce UNDERCOVER and GU to new audiences worldwide.
