On our inspiring people radar we have a 22-year-old German photographer, blogger and fashion lover Christopher Schaller. He cannot be in the same place for more than two weeks, so basically you can meet him everywhere around the world. We are talking to him about Bryan Boy, Rio de Janeiro (be prepared!), fashion and other exciting things going on in his world. Meet the most adorable German photographer and blogger!

What is your location now?

My room in Munich.

What do you do?

I am mainly a photographer but I also work as a videographer and fashion assistant. Besides that, I am studying business.

What is so special about being a photographer? What does it mean to you?

I see life in angles. I am always framing and taking pictures in my mind even if I don’t have a camera with me. It is haunting me and it is what I think about almost all the time. I cannot even watch a movie and completely relax because I am always thinking about different shots. To me photography means everything. It helped me to experience things I would not have experienced without it. Thanks to photography, I met many interesting people! I must say that it changed my life when I discovered it.

Fashion male bloggers are so rare in the blogosphere, but you definitely got it! How and when did that happen?

To be honest, I do not really like being called “blogger”. I see myself more as a blogging photographer. When I start doing it a blog for me was a sphere where I could share my pictures with the world and get a feedback. That is the way I got better and better and it still helps me to rethink my work and improve it. I also post outfit pictures but I do it for fun. I am interested in fashion and people seem to be interested in my personal style, so why not?

What fashion means to you?

It is a way to express yourself and show who you want to be. Take it serious but do not think about it too much! There is other more important things in life than clothes.

One of the most famous male fashion bloggers (that also could be your competitor) is Bryan Boy. What do you think about him?

He seems like a funny guy, but I find him a “trendwhore” like other big bloggers. I do not like this kind of approach when bloggers wear only the “it things”. For instance, everyone is wearing “Kenzo” sweaters, but why? They are not pretty at all. They are just a must-have and every fashion blogger wears it. I think bloggers should have a philosophy they believe in instead of just wearing everything that is given to them. I am not saying that because I think Bryan is my competitor and I do not want to offend him in any way!

How come you travel so much? Some of your photos are from Rio de Janeiro, some from Paris, others from another side of the world…how’s does it feel to be on the road most of the time?

I just love it! When I am studying for exams and it happens that, I have to be in the same place for a couple of weeks it feels like I am going to explode. I just have to get out and be on the road, experience new things and take pictures, of course. Travelling is the thing that inspires me most as well as different surroundings and new people met on the road. Recently I have been to Rio de Janeiro for the second time and I must say that it is one of my favorites… I am planning to do my first “book project” on the city.

Do you feel yourself in other country? Is it the same Christoph Schaller or are you somehow different?

That is a tricky question! I think I am the same Christoph Schaller. I mostly travel with some of my best friends so there is nothing different to us except the place we are in.

What is your dream location?

We have been to waterfalls in Rio de Janeiro and I just loved them! It is the most beautiful location, which can be easily compared to Paradise! We had to walk and climb a lot before we got there but it was absolutely worth it.

What was the most awesome party you have ever been to?

I guess that was the “Mugler Aftershowparty” in Paris Fashion Week last year. I was there with my very good friend MarkyMarc. We were literally speechless. Azealia Banks was left to us, Nicola Formichetti- right to us, and lots of other cool people! I guess I have never been in a room with so many amazing and inspiring personalities. When I go out, I am more interested in inspiring conversations than getting wasted…

How dressed up would you like to be caught by Scott Schumann?

I have no idea! I am always trying to wear something that reflects my personality, so maybe it would be the same what I wear daily.

What is the song that best describes you?

Right now it’s Jake Bugg’s songs.

What are you up to right now?

I am taking a short break from studying for my upcoming exams in order to lie on the floor and answer these questions on my laptop…
