Alec Ali Abdulrahim is a menswear designer from Ghana who launched a label Mai-Gidah after graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium. In his work fashion and tradition seem to be equals and men are encouraged to find new ways to mix what is considered to be old-way style and modernism. As the designer puts it, “I don’t want to manufacture mass-produced clothes. I want people to reminisce when they see my work, I want to evoke an emotion.” And this is exactly what he demonstrated with the last collection called “Summer frost”.

A little bit feminine but still prevailing masculine identity and features this collection is in pure white with sophisticated little black details. Ankle-length trousers dominate in most of the looks but that gives an opportunity to appreciate various shapes and design of the tops. Most of them have distorted silhouettes that make men look strong and intense. Bold cuts and contrasting fabrics are innovative and dedicated to the high quality craftsmanship. Alac’s talent to approach culture and contemporary art in a futuristic way is striking, and most certainly takes men’s  fashion to the next level.
